Orléans Masters - Second Round vs. Joo Ven Soong
Wednesday Mar 24, 2021
Wednesday Mar 24, 2021
Short recap of my first match, a second round win against Joo Ven Soong, Malaysia.
Trying to let you in on how I had to work hard on the mental side of the game to stay in control of my thoughts and focus on the gameplan.
A lot of the things discussed in an earlier episode with sports psychologist Jakob Hansen actually came in play today!
Next up is Chirag Sen, so this episode offers a few words on that challenge as well.
Enjoy!

Tuesday Mar 23, 2021
Tuesday Mar 23, 2021
Quick 10-minute update from Orléans, France where I'm currently at to take part in the Super 100 event Orléans Masters.
The episode covers why I've signed up for this event, which includes a fight for an important 4th seeding spot at next month's European Championship.
You'll get updated on my experience being here so far as well, just as I'm also looking ahead to my first match, which will be against either Joo Ven Soong, Malaysia or Johnnie Torjussen, England.
I'll also reveal why it's a good idea to become a patron of the podcast on patreon.com/vittinghus before the end of this month - as the prizes next month are great. I'm also just 3 patrons shy of beginning to offer my monthly patrons-only livechat!
Hopefully you'll find it an interesting 10-minutes - so thanks a lot for listening. I appreciate it a lot!

All England 2021 - What a crazy week!
Friday Mar 19, 2021
Friday Mar 19, 2021
Update from a very crazy week in Birmingham at the All England!
By listening to this episode you'll get updated on how chaotic my preparations were with all the pre-tournament COVID-19 chaos.
I'll also dissect my performance and thoughts through my two matches here.
Finally in the end I'll dig a little into the even more chaotic scenes that has occured after the full Indonesian team and Yigit from Turkey were forced to withdraw due to COVID-19 related issues.
It's a little longer than usual for a "tournament edition" podcast, but I hope you'll enjoy the 30 minutes anyway.
Thanks for listening and remember you can support the podcast on patreon.com/vittinghus!

Special Guest Episode - Jakob Hansen, Sports Psychologist
Monday Mar 15, 2021
Monday Mar 15, 2021
This is an episode I've really looked forward to share with you guys!
Jakob Hansen was my personal sports psychologist for more than 5 years and he has worked with so many of the best Danish athletes and high performers from other areas of work.
It's my hope the episode will give you a much better insight into what mental training at this level is, how we work with it and how useful it can be in all aspects of life.
The episode is full of small anecdotes from my work with Jakob both at home in training, but also at big events like Thomas Cup and World Championships.
You'll also get some tips on how to best get started with mental training and what you need to do and be wary of if you want to be successful with the training.
At the end Jakob also willingly replies to some great listener questions - amongst others one about how to stay focused in the end of matches when you need to close out a match.
I really do hope you'll find this episode both interesting, but also helpful, so please let me know what you think!
If you want to get in touch with Jakob, check out his website: https://www.doubleyou-partners.com/konsulenter/jakob-hansen/ or send him an email at jakob@doubleyou-partners.com.
One of his great books is available on: https://www.underpres.dk/ - so far only in Danish, but it is being translated, so stay tuned for an English version.

Special Guest Episode - Ng Ka Long Angus
Thursday Feb 18, 2021
Thursday Feb 18, 2021
Another great guest episode - this time with an Asian guest in Hong Kong no. 1 men's singles player, Ng Ka Long Angus!
40 minutes of interesting chat where you'll get to know why he chose a career in singles despite winning gold at the World Junior Championships in men's doubles - and why it wasn't always an easy choice!
As we look back on his 2016 Hong Kong Open win, Angus also shares his thoughts on how he plans to become even better than he is now as he is aiming for some big achievements in the coming years.
Furthermore we look into the pros and cons of the Hong Kong badminton system and get to know a bit more about what Angus' everyday life looks like as a national team player.
An interesting chat and a rare chance for an English spoken long interview with one of the Asian stars of the sport!
I hope you enjoy it - I'll be happy to hear your feedback.

Special Guest Episode - Mathias Boe
Tuesday Feb 09, 2021
Tuesday Feb 09, 2021
Excited to bring you this episode with Danish men's doubles legend Mathias Boe!
The episode dissects all aspects of Boe's retirement at the start of last year. Does he regret not retiring with long time partner Carsten Mogensen? Did he get the farewell he wanted and deserved? And why did he feel it was the right time to quit with (at the time) the Tokyo Games were lurking just around the corner?
We're also talking in depth about that amazing run at the London Olympics, just as we go through the All England ups and downs with epic finals going both ways for him.
Obviously we also had to chat about his new job as coach of the Indian doubles - what is his perspective and what can we expect he'll bring to the job!
Finally there were time for a few listener questions including an update on Boe's legendary Gangnam style celebration and other brilliant stories throughout the podcast!
I sincerely hope you'll enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it - and if you did, please consider supporting the podcast on patreon.com/vittinghus, which will give you early access to all guest episodes and give you a chance of winning cool prizes each month!
Thanks so much for listening!
